MAKE AN IMPACT

BETWEEN 20 TO 22 VETERANS COMMIT SUICIDE DAILY

Our nation’s heroes deserve better, and that’s why Downrange Warriors was created. Your support provides a unique combination of a strong, faith-based foundation with the experience and expertise of those who’ve served to deliver transformative outcomes. Together we can remind veterans and first responders that it is possible to save their marriages, families, and even their lives! Please give generously today.

OUR HISTORY

First, thanks for even taking the time to visit our page and look us over. We appreciate in these busy times your interest in helping stop suicide in our brave warriors. So, some transparency and history first.

Downrange Warriors started 7 years ago to save one combat veteran who had just gotten his 3rd DUI. Offering help was the desire of a civilian friend of his with a servants heart but he realized he needed combat veteran help to break through. After multiple requests, an experienced but hesitant combat veteran came along side and with God’s help and direction facilitated the young soldier to see there was a future for him in civilian life. It grew from that beginning to a multi-state organization helping hundreds of veterans and first responders struggling with thoughts of suicide. That civilian had to back away because hanging around these hard and wounded warriors gave him and his family PTSD. He had that kind of heart. The old combat veteran that wouldn’t help in the beginning has led the organization ever since.

The annual number of suicides varies around 20-22 veterans killing themselves every single day. That amounts to over 8,000 per year. Tragically 2,605 lives were lost on 911. You can see the disturbing difference.  That total doesn’t even account for the first responder suicides that are at least in the hundreds and probably thousands annually. That horrifying number represents a lost person but more so a permanently damaged spouse and family. The ripple effect is brutal, multi-generational and permanent. Children don’t only develop emotional problems but are forever scarred going into future relationships and careers…becoming multi-generational.

The DW team discovered we have a system and format that produces real change in the lives of those we serve. It seemed just normal to us, but it appears our two prong approach is unusual and amazingly effective.  We are often asked what our secret is.

First, we only provide teaching and leading through individuals who have really been there so to speak, and have the credentials to be in the conversation. Combat veterans help veterans and experienced first responders help first responders whether law enforcement medical EMT’s or PA’s or Doctors. We often say you don’t know what you are talking about until you have been there and seen death or thought you were going to die. We have learned that really traumatized folks simply won’t open up to another person, no matter what their heart attitude or education, unless that person has been in the same frightening environment they have experienced.

Second, we are faith based. We have learned through experience that we can’t catalyze real healing by ourselves. We must have help from within…and above. We have heard it said that DW can help folks on the outside if they will let God help on the inside. We have seen multiple miracles in the most hardened hearts and see men and women go from suicidal to leading joyful lives while providing for and leading their families.  These are veterans and responders that have been in multiple other programs. The record is attending 17 other programs with no long-term results. God is the difference. God had called the leadership team to do this most difficult and dangerous work because we believe if He leads us to it, He will lead us through it. God truly provides the miraculous healings we see on a weekly basis. That is truth!

WE NEED YOU!

How can you help Downrange Warriors?  We’re glad you asked.

First, we desperately need prayers. Prayers of protection, provision and continued change in the lives of our brave warriors and responders. Please hear our hearts, we’re not just saying that. Without the prayer cover of others, we most assuredly will fail and get injured or mortally wounded eventually. The men and women are not afraid to look death in the face and that includes anyone they see as a threat to their lives or their plans. We need your prayers!

Second, we need your contributions. ALL the services DW provides are FREE to everyone. We provide multiple programs and services from the first time we meet a candidate to when we see them leading their lives in total victory. All our programs include meals and childcare. We allow no reasons or excuses to not attend or complete our programs and activities.

Downrange Warriors offers paid-for services by our own teams or affiliates:

  1. 1-week interventions by an affiliate named Mighty Oaks

  2. 12-week course called ReBoot for the veteran or responder and their spouse

  3. Quarterly graduations of ReBoot where candidates tell their stories and receive tangible tools to help their future walk into long term victory

  4. Multi-day outings through affiliate Military Mobility

  5. Horse therapy programs

  6. Service dog programs

  7. Fly fishing programs with equipment provided and professional guides

  8. Monthly social activities

  9. A weekly meeting for candidates to never feel dropped or forgotten

The one-week intervention costs over $1,000 just for transportation out of state.  The ReBoot 12-week class costs an average of $6,000 with an average of 12 candidates because of childcare, supper and facilities.  ReBoot Graduations cost $500 per quarter.  Outings cost over $1,000 per person.  Horse therapy costs over $1,000 per person over several weeks.  Service dogs cost from $3,000 to $35,000 per dog per person according to where and how long the dog and handler are trained.  Fly fishing trips vary from $100 to $500 according to equipment needed and where they go to fish.  Monthly activities cost an average of $500 per event.  The weekly meeting is the least expensive at about $50 per week.  So you can hopefully see the need for your hard earned dollars.  When we include that we desperately need additional paid staff to devote their full time to these services…you can see how you can help.

So, in closing we would like to share something with each of you.  Thanks for the past 7 years.  We could never have done it without folks stepping up and helping.  That includes volunteers and those who gave their hard-earned dollars.  Next, we humbly ask for you to first pray and ask God for guidance if you should financially support Downrange Warriors.

Lastly, we ask you go to our videos and see the true stories of veterans and first responders that have actually gone through our programs…and you make the decision if we are making a difference.  If you decide we are…then please, please elect to support us.  We promise to be good stewards with your money.

We welcome all donors to attend our graduations, our activities and to sit down with us for a 1on1 conversation of accountability.  We are transparent and proud of what God has done through and to us.  The only thing we request of everyone is that you not do nothing!  That’s bad English but you know what we are trying to say.  These folks are so desperate, they are killing themselves.  These warriors and responders need our help and if you can’t step out and visit them in their dark places…then please support us and give us the tools necessary to get this mission accomplished.

Thanks in advance from the bottom of our hearts.
